Battlefield 6 Gamers Are Convinced: Tasks Are Way Too Hard
The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are necessary to obtain particular firearms.
Gamers have begun resorting to custom matches made via Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how grueling these missions have become.
Understanding BF6 Tasks
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. There are four categories of assignments, but while the majority simply offer outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of getting 12 of the 41 primary weapons found within the game.
Some of these locked weapons could shortly earn a place on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash via Reddit
On Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This mission is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
At the same time, firing an LMG without aiming is highly imprecise and functions solely at extremely close range, which is seldom the location you prefer to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Overly Demanding Challenge
A different forum member brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles
This is difficult enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game right now, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and maybe a classic map in a best-case scenario if you want to snipe from over 200m away.
The Workaround
However, there is a solution: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to make custom game modes on the battleground of your choice, complete with bots. This implies you can cheese the system… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.
However, when doing the challenges in a normal session appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for completing them in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?
Potential Changes
It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are made easier in the next few updates, because if they're not, certain gamers simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.
At the moment, the audience continues to express their views on these demanding multiplayer missions, expecting a more balanced gaming experience in future updates.
