The Simpsons Arrives in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle Fans Are Hoping For

We already knew that The Simpsons was teaming up with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole destination where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to Rocket League, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in Fortnite. However, if gamers will truly desire to use it is another question, as there's only one Springfield vehicle the community is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

While many gamers would undoubtedly love to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed automobile Homer built himself in the 1991 episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. Not even receiving the massive SUV, the heavy-duty truck showcased in the tenth season. Instead, players are getting the Simpsons' standard beat-up sedan, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an iconic symbol of the show. And for players who analyze the game's vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan uses the same hitbox as the Dominus.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the sole customization item from the series coming to the game. The event will additionally feature a series of challenges to earn more rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. According to a press release, the challenges will task participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, gather boost canisters as if your navigation is set to the Simpson house, and travel a specific distance sufficient for picking up the perfect donuts!"

Although the complete list of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

If the key art is any indication, it seems players will also get wheels featuring a television displaying The Simpsons' opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the major The Simpsons takeover of Fortnite, which brings a brand-new map of the fictional town, as well as a month-long Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons event launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and concludes on Nov. 17.
